A little over 6 Months after opening, MLC Derby welcomes two new tutors to our growing team.
MLC Derby opened its doors for face to face lessons in September 2021, though it has been successfully delivering tuition services online since May of 2020.
The Existing Team
In May 2020 MLC Derby welcomed Amber Durant, and Adam Bloor to the team – two extremely skilled young musicians keen to share their passion with others. Their expertise in Piano and Drums respectively, has already helped many students begin to realise their musical potential. Both tutors started their careers at MLC Derby and have since began working with MLC Loughborough, MLC Leicester, MLC West Bridgford and the Music Learning Collective online.
In September 2021 we welcomed Frankie Storer, an already accomplished musician and experienced teacher to the team. Her passion for music, specifically Piano, Vocals and Music Theory, has been greatly received by her students at MLC Derby.
Welcoming New Tutors
From April 2022, we are excited to welcome two new tutors to the team.
Alison Milner, a student studying with MLC Derby, has been working hard towards her grade 8 vocal exam whilst also studying for a level six teaching diploma. With extensive background in education, piano and vocals, she is set to join the team as a combined Vocal and Piano tutor. Alison has already begun working with MLC Nottingham & MLC Loughborough and has a number of students enjoying weekly lessons both in and outside of schools.
Alison is well versed in both the arts, and education. She holds a national diploma in Performing Arts, A levels in theatre studies/music, as well as a Ba/Bsc degree in Education with Sociology. She now studies towards a level six diploma in vocal/instrument teaching to soon become a licentiate of Trinity College London.
Aside from teaching, Alison performs nationally as part of a barbershop chorus, Ignite UK and with Commotion Quartet. Not only is she extremely skilled vocally, but she is also a grade 7 pianist and has previously played trombone as part of the Nottinghamshire Police band.
Having worked in numerous school settings and as a business administrator, Alison joins the Music Learning Collective as an extremely skilled and passionate vocal and piano teacher across multiple sites.
Finally, MLC Derby is welcoming a new Guitar expert to the team. Following a first class honours degree from Leeds Conservatoire in Popular Music and over 16 years experience in the music industry, Matt Drinkwater is set to join us from April 2022.
Matt’s interests in experimental alternative and indie rock can be heard in his band ‘The Big Sad’ for which he regularly writes and performs. He also has a plethora of nationwide gigging experience and BBC airtime to boot.
With a love of vintage gear and further experience in event management, Matt joins us eager to share his passion with students across multiple music learning collective sites, starting first in Derby.
The Music Learning Collective is always on the lookout for passionate, driven individuals to join our ever growing team of like minded professionals. If you would like to know more about working with us, please visit the ‘working with us’ section of the website and get in touch.
