MLC Loughborough delivered another successful course for our own students and learners further afield.
We have a talented cohort of students studying with us at MLC, but we continually strive to come up with fresh ideas to give them something new and challenging to work on.
The idea of a Latin Drum workshop is something that I had been planning much earlier in the year. This was to be delivered in a group setting by Paul Hose, Nishan Chady and myself, with the premise being of getting Drummers together in a room to learn about this exciting, challenging and fun genre. Student’s would receive a copy of Drumset For Beginners – Latin book. The opportunity to perform would naturally follow at the end of the workshop.
Inevitably, Covid-19 caused a re-think of how this was to be delivered. I certainly did not want to scrap the idea. Instead, we adapted to this new way we currently work and operate. After a few online meetings between Paul, Nishan and Myself, a revised plan was agreed upon, and we had a fantastic online Latin Drum workshop during May half term. The students actively engaged throughout the two day’s and submitted some great work to share with everyone at the end. They certainly did themselves proud.
We received some amazing feedback:
Please thank Paul, Mark and Nish for the Latin drum course this week.
Billy really enjoyed it (as did I listening to his bossa’s).
Really well organised, the tech worked well and amazing value. MLC strikes again.
Thanks for putting this on in half term, it’s been a positive thing.
Casper did enjoy it and was really chuffed with the comments in his playing
We plan to run another Latin workshop again during the Summer break. Watch this space!
