About MLC Derby

Owned and managed by long-standing student and tutor, Nishan Chady, MLC Derby exists to provide quality, accountable musical education within a fun and safe environment. Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace from a team of qualified professionals, each passionate about music, arts & education.

With management experience, a deep rooted history in the Music Learning Collective, and a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, Nishan strives to create a community of like minded individuals to learn and enjoy music together.

Starting as a student himself in 2005, Nishan progressed through the graded exam system whilst working with the MLC Nottingham part time during school and college. After graduating from University in 2012, Nishan returned to Nottingham/Derby where he continued his music studies with MLC founder and CEO, Paul Hose, whilst working in the high end Audio/Hifi Industry.

Nishan soon rejoined the MLC as a valued member of the team teaching and leading the focus on curriculum development within the school by heading the first Music Production and Arts Award courses within the group as well as tutoring a plethora of weekly drum students.

He holds a number of related professional qualifications including a First Class Honours Degree (Sound Engineering & Production BSc Hons), Grade 8 Distinction (Drumset – TCL), Distinction Music Performance Diploma (Drums – DipRSL) and Distinction Music Teaching Diploma (ATCL).

Nishan’s enthusiasm towards education and the arts has for many years inspired students of all ages. In 2018 he decided to open a franchise of the Music Learning Collective in order to inspire a team of tutors to do the same for aspiring musicians in Derby.
