About MLC Leicester

Music Learning Collective

Mark Bates is the owner and Manager of MLC Leicester, which opened its doors in January 2020.

Mark realised his passion for music at the age of 14, when he first started playing the drums. He studied with world-renowned drummers such as Jim Chapin, Mike Mangini, Thomas Lang, Massimo Russo, Paul Hose, Claus Hessler and Craig Blundell, and went on to achieve his Diploma in Performance for Rock School London and is an Associate for Trinity College London (Teaching).

Still out and performing, Mark plays with a number of bands including Singer/Songwriter JR Harbidge, whose debut album reached No.9 in the iTunes chart, as well as a number of festivals including YNOT Festival, Cornbury Festival and Cropredy & Warwick Folk Festival.

Whilst running MLC Leicester, Mark also managers MLC Loughborough and continues to teach at MLC Nottingham. He is regularly asked to teach and work alongside the HE Performance and Music Technology students at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies.

Alistair REALLY enjoyed last week and would definitely be interested in other opportunities similar to this. He found the whole week a really fun, friendly and creative atmosphere.

Fantastic to be able to immerse himself in the things he loves the most and utilise the skills and ideas he has been developing over the year, as well as mixing with others, their ideas, developing new skills and knowledge.

Fantastic week, thank you for the opportunity.
