Coronavirus Update

How the MLC community is responding

Please check back regularly for updates

In line with the government out of school settings guidelines we are delighted that our face to face teaching can resume from 19th April from selected locations.

Your teacher will have already been in contact to discuss your return to face to face lessons. Whilst we are keen to get as many people back in our venues as soon as possible, we are aware that some families are still shielding and therefore they will remain online until we can safely deliver lessons to them.

As always the safety and welfare of our students and teachers is very important to us, and below is a summary of the measures we are taking to ensure that our venues continue to operate safely.

HEALTH & SAFETY AND HYGIENE

All students and teachers will undertake the following to help limit the risk of coronavirus at MLC:
● Face coverings to be worn in all communal areas (i.e. corridors, shared entry/exit points) by all team members and students
● Frequent hand washing or hand sanitisation will be undertaken by all upon entry, between disciplines, before and after break and toilet visits, and upon exit.
● Hand sanitisers will be in each teaching room and the main entrance (where applicable).
● An established a cleaning regime to include: a wipe down of door handles and the area surrounding them, surfaces and equipment before the start and end of each lesson. Anti-bacterial wipes or paper towels with cleaning fluid will be used and then disposed of after one use. This includes the toilet area, flushes, taps etc.
● Signage regarding hand washing / sanitising will be displayed around the venue.
● Students and teachers will be encouraged to bring only essential possessions to their lessons
● Where possible, we will ensure all lessons are well ventilated using natural ventilation

SOCIAL DISTANCING

● We will be observing social distancing guidance from the UK Government in all teaching rooms where appropriate. Where this can not happen, masks will be worn by both, the teacher and the student

● A one way system will be implemented upon entry and exit
● Parents will not be permitted into our venues

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, we are looking forward to teaching you face to face again!

Communication sent to our community of teachers, students and families advising who MLC will operate during tier 4 restrictions.

As advised in communication to our community of teachers, students and families, MLC will operate in accordance with tier 3 guidlines.

As outlined in communication with our teams, students and families, lessons across MLC will now be offered both online and face-to-face in accordance with local and national guidance.

MLC West Bridgford announce up-to-date guidelines aimed at keeping your Rockschool graded music exam as safe and as pleasant as possible.

Following last night’s announcement from the Prime Minister, in order to put our student and teachers safety at the heart of what we do, we will be continuing online tuition until further notice as we are currently unable to adhere to social distancing guidelines in our schools.

We wish you and your families the very best during this time and thank you again for your continued support of the MLC community.

Team MLC

As previously communicated, RSL and ABRSM exams for this period have been postponed. We will let you know any information as and when we receive it.

Dear Students/Parents/Carers,

Following our previous communications we are delighted to provide further information about the continuation of MLC lessons online.

Please know that our online offering is very considered and, although this might seem new to our Nottingham, Leicester and Loughborough students, as a dynamic music school MLC already delivers music education online to students in Italy, France, India, USA, Switzerland, Germany, Singapore and Brazil as well as the UK.

We have been overwhelmed with emails of support for our team to transition to this new way of working. Thank you!

Our main intention for our transition online is to continue to deliver the ongoing music education of all of our students through what will be a challenging time. We also intend to support our team here at MLC to continue teaching so that they can support their families as well.

Although we are shutting our physical doors from Friday night our online lessons could commence as early as Saturday and our teachers have now been completely briefed and trained so they will be in contact with you to start to set up and arrange your lesson timings.

There are some actions you will need to take to set up for your first online lesson, we have created a toolkit for you which can be found here please have a read through and your MLC managers and teachers are ready to support you to set up your first lesson. Hopefully this will answer any questions you may have but please let your teacher know if you have any other queries, we are set up to support everyone with their online music journey!

Whilst completing your online set up you may decide that you require some additional resources, (sticks, practice pads, books etc) Abbey Road Music Nottingham will be closed from Saturday but their online inventory is fully stocked and Abbey Road are ready to get in the car and deliver any items purchased directly to you.

RSL and ABRSM have postponed any planned exams for this period and we will keep you updated with any new information as we receive it. Whilst we are unsure of dates for commencing face to face lessons, we fully intend to run our Summer concert and we will work through online rehearsals in the coming weeks. The show must go on!

Though these are undoubtedly unprecedented times, we are so excited about releasing some of our new projects to our community that will enthuse and inspire you, and we intend to release a new online course and initiatives over the coming weeks. So please continue to read our emails and check our social channels regularly.

We wish you and your families the very best during this time and thank you again for your continued support of the MLC community.

Team MLC

Important communication following government announcement – online tuition
Following the government’s announcement this evening instructing all schools, nurseries and private schools to close, we will unfortunately be stopping all face to face lessons at all of our MLC schools from Saturday onwards. Our teachers and students are at the heart of our business and we are keen to follow the government’s directive in managing the spread of the virus as much as possible.

The great news is that we will be transitioning your lessons to our online teaching portal by the beginning of next week so that we can resume normal contact and continue to support students during this time.

Full guidance and information about how this will work will be shared with you via email tomorrow evening.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

MLC

In accordance with the guidelines published by the Government, Mask-wearing in England has become compulsory again in some settings, including shops and public transport. Therefore, wearing masks at MLC West Bridgford is required when on the ground floor as it is based in and around a music retail setting.

Thank you for your understanding,

MLC
